Body-sculptures, stage objects, and performative pieces
(medical grade plastic material, wax cord, rubber, 2018/2019)
Inspired by experimental work and philosophy of Madeline Gins and Shusaku Arakawa, the project addressed ideas of normative / marginalized / corrected bodies within the (non) standard architectural context, suggesting the possibility of tracing and ultimately reconfiguring the “architecture body”
The pieces were handmade in thermostatic medial grade material, by doing life-casts of each of the performer. The idea was to trace their bodies and transforming them into architectural stage objects that can both interact with the bodies around them, as well as with their architectural environment. By engaging in an anxious interplay between object and subject I placed the body at the mercy of the material.
